From what I’ve been taught, the appropriate use of a dreamcatcher is to be made by relatives, friends, and/or community members of and for a child. There is a special process that you do while you make the gift, and then it is given to a child to help them from having bad dreams. They are made and intended for specific people, thus mass produced ones are lifeless. Anyway, it is hung above the place where the child sleeps. By the time the child is an adult, they do not use it as they have no need for the dreamcatcher any longer.
