Here's a dreamcatcher I made for you." And it doesnt just have to be a kid. What I've heard is it usually is hung on the East wall, or by the window. I guess it depends on where you come from.

Like I said, there’s a special process that you have to do. I don’t really have the personal liberty to go and say exactly what that is here since I’m honestly not sure if I have to receive permission to tell or not… so i’m gonna play it cool and not. However, it’s simple but really impactful.

These mass produced ones today and the ones all these folks are making cuz they think they’re cool, have no soul. While they may look like dream catchers, there’s more to dream catchers than just the aesthetics. (it’s the same with bead work, sure someone could look at a traditional piece of bead work and then recreate it, but it’s not gonna have the same soul cuz there was a major step in the process missing.) Because when dream catchers are made, they are made by relatives or someone close to the child , there are specific non-physical things put into that dream catcher for the child to protect them at night. When they’re mass produced and made cuz they look aesthetically pleasing, they don’t have that. So if they ‘don’t work’ it’s due to that. They’re lifeless, dead.

From everything I’ve learned, and been confirmed on, it is only for children.

People have taken that and skewed dream catchers because they don’t understand them or the culture it came from. They’ve assigned their own meaning to them because they think it’s “oh so native” and “mystical” and “beautiful”. Which, to be sure, dream catchers can be beautiful, no doubt. But people miss the point of them entirely in their conquests for the native, mystical, and beautiful.
